PERI’s Jayati Ghosh looks at the “Doing Business” index controversy currently plaguing the World Bank and the IMF.  She argues that this controversy is obscuring the real problems that have existed for years: disproportionate power of the U.S., the IMF’s deeply procyclical approach, and the G7 economies’ unwillingness to enable multilateral bodies to address global problems.
