New Report Documents Racist Rot at the Core of the Petrochemical Industry

Polychroniou, PERI’s Michael Ash discusses the findings of his recent study, co-authored by Kimberly Terrell and Gianna St. Julien, which reveals that the petrochemical industry, well known for creating pollution and health risks to predominantly poor and Black communities near its plants, also perpetuates stark racial disparities across its workforce, reflecting what can only be described as institutional racism.
