EVENT CANCELED: Prabhat Patnaik Lecture: Sanctions against Russia and the Future of the Dollar

May 4, 4pm ET

In person: Gordon Hall 3rd Floor Conference room, followed by reception.

Patnaik photoThe unintended impact of the U.S. and European economic sanctions against Russia are likely to be two-fold: an undermining of the global neo-liberal order, and a challenge to the hegemony of the dollar as the world’s reserve currency. In the long run, these outcomes could hurt the US more than Russia.

Professor Prabhat Patnaik is one of the most globally eminent and widely respected scholars of political economy and an important Marxist public intellectual. He is Emeritus Professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University, India where he taught from 1974 to 2010. His books include Economics and Egalitarianism, Accumulation and Stability Under Capitalism, and Re-envisioning Socialism.
