Irene Tung

Irene Tung is Director of Program and Policy at the Action Lab, a strategy center for social movements based in New York City. Previously, she served as Senior Researcher and Policy Analyst at the National Employment Law Project. She has authored research and public policy reports on a wide range of issues including digital surveillance, workplace injury, disciplinary transparency, wage policy and non-standard employment relationships. Her work has been used by local, state and federal policymakers across the country and has been instrumental to the enactment of several groundbreaking worker protection laws. She has also provided expertise on workplace issues to the US Department of Labor and the White House. Irene is a frequent media commentator and her work has been featured in numerous media including The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, The Atlantic, PBS News Hour, Marketplace, NBC News, and The Nation. She received her PhD in geography from Rutgers University.
