Akshit Arora

Akshit Arora is a PhD student in Economics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a Research Assistant at PERI, working with Professor Ina Ganguli. His research interests focus on the intersection of labor, social identities, and informality, with an emphasis on inequality in labor market outcomes. Before joining UMass, he served as a Research Associate at the Centre for Sustainable Employment, Azim Premji University, where he contributed to projects such as State of Working India 2023 and studies on women’s employment and social identities in the labor market. He has also collaborated with the World Bank’s South Asia team, analyzing the effects of AI and automation on employment and earnings across gender and education groups.
